Absolute truth is absolutely true!
I’ve spent a little time researching the idea of...
The rejection of absolute truth! This is the growing idea that “everyone holds their own truth”. I wanted to find out who holds this view, and what argument it holds. A few key points I discovered were:
Not many actually argue that there is no such thing as absolute truth because it is an easily flawed logical argument.
The more common argument is to challenge common ‘truths’ that we hold today, such as murder, divorce, stealing, marriage, etc.
Buddhism holds thinking similar to this, and has entered the western world and the States, but in a different way. Instead of denying absolute truths to work towards the goal of detachment, many Americans who deny absolute truths do so because the truths are offensive and exclusive.
This was so revealing to me because the truth is that the truth of God’s Word is offensive and exclusive! Because the message of the Bible is so incredibly amazing, to be without and/or against it is that much more offensive and terrifying. Because the God of truth is good in every way, He wants all to come to this truth (2 Peter 3:9) and therefore reveals Himself to everyone (Revelation 1:20). This just made me so thankful for the truth and realize just how good it is, and how terrible its absence is. It’s because of this that I want to risk being judged, ridiculed, or rejected for sharing it because the reward of others having it is so much greater than my personal suffering.
It’s just amazing how every issue/topic in today’s world is answered in the only source of truth- God’s very words!
